Zam Zam... aww

Okay so al-Hamdu lilLah the principal of the Sunday school came back from Hajj, and she brought me a bag filled with awesome treats. In the bag was a bottle of zam zam!

So al-Hamdu lilLah I drank some of it and made a du`a'.. drank more made more du`a'... and heh I still have some sitting by my computer, I want to sorta save it I guess.

I brought it to my family and I told them I have some zam zam water if they would like some, my dad drank some, my mom did too, and then they told my little brother to drink some and ask Allah to help him with school and all that good stuff.

So just 5 minutes ago, he comes in my room, and he says, "That drink doesn't work!" .. I said, "What do you mean it doesn't work? Of course it does."

He said, "I asked for a 360 [i guess that's some Xbox thing] and I didn't get it." I smiled and said, "Just because you made du`a' doesn't mean you're going to get what you ask for right away." He then widens his eyes and says, "So I'll get it tomorrow?" I smiled again... and then he got distracted and started to play with a toy fork.

I learned something from him, I think, I am like Amir, sometimes I make du`a' and expect instant results... but Allah knows what's best. I figure when we make du`a' we recieve what we need, not necessarily what we want, so al-Hamdu lilLah for everything, and al-Hamdu lilLah for the time it will take for the du`a' we make to be answered, Allah indeed knows what is best for us. subHan Allah, I love children... al-Hamdu lilLah, always always al-Hamdu lilLah.

My brother told me this joke today...

son: Dad I want 20 dollars.

father: What 10 dollars? No son, 15 dollars is better.

The Story of an African King and His Friend

A story is told about a King in Africa who had a close friend that he grew up with. The friend had a habit of looking at every situation that ever occurred in his life (positive or negative) by remarking, "This is good, Allah Almighty knows best" One day the King and his friend were out on a hunting expedition. The friend would load and prepare the guns for the King. The friend had apparently done something wrong in preparing one of the guns, for after taking the gun from his friend, the King fired it and his thumb was blown off. Examining the situation the friend remarked as usual, "This is good! Allah Almighty knows best." To which the King replied, "No, this is NOT good!" and ordered his soldiers to put his friend into jail. About a year later, the King was hunting in an area that he should have known to stay clear of. Cannibals captured the King and took him to their village. They tied his hands, stacked some wood, set up a stake and bound him to the stake. As they came near to set fire to the wood, they noticed that the King was missing a thumb. Being superstitious, they never ate anyone who was less than whole. So after untying the King, they chased him out of the village.

When the King reached his Palace, he was reminded of the event that had taken his thumb and felt remorse for his treatment of his friend. He went immediately to the jail to speak with his friend.

"You were right" the King said, "it was good that my thumb was blown off." And he proceeded to tell the friend all that had just happened. "I am very sorry for sending you to jail for so long. It was bad for me to do this." "No," his friend replied, "this is good...Allah Almighty knows best" "What do you mean, 'this is good'! How could it be good that I sent my friend to jail for a year?"

The King's friend replied: "Remember that the Almighty knows best and if I had NOT been in jail, I would have been with you on that hunting trip."

"He knows what is before them And what is behind them: And to Allah go back All questions (for decision)" Qur'an:Surah Al Hajj 22:76

Do Not Judge Things or Events by its Immediate Outcome! Almighty, the Most High, is the All-Knowledgable, the All-Knower... He chooses to show
us things... but sometimes... we are not shown the wisdom behind somethings. When we are confronted by circumstances that are not very pleasing.... we are quick to say: "This is not good..." but... is it really? We might not know the purpose behind it. It might turn to be a good thing.... thus.. .when we are faced with any situation... do not be
too quick to judge... always remember.... this life is a test... the good and the bad.... and there is nothing that happens for no reason... our brains are just not gifted enough to understand these reasons yet.

*Things always happen for a reason*

Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, reported:

*Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: When Allah created the creation He put down **in his Book, which is with Him upon the Throne: Verily, My mercy predominates My wrath.*

Good Mood

I'm in a good mood al-Hamdu lilLah.

Today, today, today was a very fun day! -smiles-

I'm leaving campus and this man who looks like a professor knocks on my window, and I look at him and he says, "Your tire is really flat I would stop at a gas station right now, you can't drive on that." He had to repeat that twice until I realized I should be smart and role down that window, hehe, khayr in sha' Allah. But come on, strange man knock'n on my window! I'm not going to role my window down so easily.

I stoppped at the masjid, and my tire is really low. How did I not feel that? Wouldn't my car have tilted, or wouldn't I have felt it somehow? Anyway, so I call my mom and tell her I'm going to be late and I asked her, "what should I do?" I've never had a flat tire before, I wasn't 100% sure what should be done. I asked my mom, "do I go to the gas station fill it up with air? do I call a tow truck? what?" She suggested that I change the tire and to ask one of the brothers from campus to help me. So I called my cousin, and I told her to ask and see if any of the guys know how to fix a tire. She said that I should have a group of guys coming down to the Masjid right away for me, aww how sweet!!! That's the UMMAH i'm talking about!!!

But I am far more fortunate than that... My friend which is a "sister" knew how to change a tire.. YES! EVEN BETTER! .. and we changed it together, no guys needed, woo hoo!!! It felt so awesome to change a tire, that "independent" "i can handle this" feeling took over me! Now I know what to do next time, learning is soooo cool!

Now let's step backwards in time a little bit. Before my friend came, I went inside the private school, I had another letter of recommendation I wanted to add to my file. In a chair in the office I saw a little boy sitting down in a chair by himself. My heart fell to the ground, here's a problem with me, I'm horrible at punishing... I've never had to punish any of my students. Even when they are bad, I just, try to find some other way around it. This is bad, I know, but I feel like if a child is misbehaving it's not their fault, it's mine, either I need to be more interesting, or this child needs something to do, or, or, or, something!

So this child is sitting in the chair, and I sit next to him. I asked him, "Are you in trouble?" He looked at me and nodded. "Do you want to talk about it?" He didn't say anything. "Are you upset, mad?" He nodded, then he started to speak:

"It wasn't my fault..." and he explained his heart out. Once he was done, I looked at him, and I said, "I believe you." He then looked at me and said softly almost to himself, "wow, first one."

From there we bonded, I have a new child friend, al-Hamdu lilLah.

So today, I'm in a good mood, my life is definitely a blessing, and al-Hamdu lilLah for everything.

Rooster Eye... whoa!

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (`alayhi salawat Allah) said, "When you hear the crowing of cocks, ask for Allah's Blessings for (their crowing indicates that) they have seen an angel. And when you hear the braying of donkeys, seek Refuge with Allah from Satan for (their braying indicates) that they have seen a Satan." (Book #54, Hadith #522)

-now click on the picture, it will get bigger, it's so amazing! subHan Allah-

Good Speech

al-Hamdu lilLah, some people with their good speech ease my heart, and serve as a great reminder to help me continue to serve Allah, properly. Tonight I am at ease, and this is a blessing from Allah, al-Hamdu lilLah, always al-Hamdu lilLah.

subHan Allah, whoever is reading this, I made it short for a reason. in sha' Allah rest, and keep to your studying, I don't want to be a distraction, in sha' Allah.

I'm not going to add anything new until probably tomorrow night, in sha' Allah.

Reason!

Bismillah,

I'm a very, very, very strong believer that things happen for a reason. It just occurred to me, perhaps I now understand why I was made to enter that Dance class, that I dropped.

1- Most likely it was a test to see if I would continue to sin or not, al-Hamdu lilLah I got out.
2- I learned something in there that helped me out! How to properly raise my hand.

In the classroom when the teacher called attendance to see who was there, I raised my hand half way, and said, "here."

The teacher said, "Nooo, no! Raise your hand all the way up, stretch it up, make it strong, make it high." So I listened, and I rose my hand the way she told me to.

Well, in the MSU they were making shura on which day they should have Brother Imad's Halaqah. There were two times that everyone pretty much agreed with, and the time that worked best for me, is the one that had fewer in number... BUT, (i feel) because I rose my hand so strongly, it may have been what had urged brother Imad to say, "You know what, I feel like that time [the one which I was going to be in] will work better for me." Heeeeeeeeeeey, cool!

Even though he said that, the MSU president said, well there are a lot more people for the other time, so in sha' Allah we will stick with that one. Then I said, "Well, umm"... but then I didn't say anything, I have a tendency to do that a lot, I may want to say something but then after thinking it through, I will stop myself. al-Hamdu lilLah I'm just training myself to speak only what is beneficial... it may take some time, but in sha' Allah I'll establish the skill. Anyways, to the point, so I said, "Well, umm".. then I stopped, I figured no one really cares anyways. Then Brother Imad said my name [he knows my name whoa, I never even told him what my name was] and said, "she has something to say." I then continued, "Well, I'm going to work with my schedule to make it there in sha' Allah." That was all, lqtm... see I really didn't need to say that, I could have just shown up, I guess that's why I stopped midway of, "well, umm"... khayr in sha' Allah.

Moral of the story: RAISE YOUR HAND UP HIGH, RAISE IT STRONGLY... -smiles-

Fun times

Today I played badminton, it was so much fun al-Hamdu lilLah.

I love playing sports, my favorites are Goof Ball [basically kick ball but we goof up the rules], badminton!!!, football, basketball, soccer, and pretty much anything with A LOT of movement, perhaps that explains why I don't like golf. Golf is so boring, except for one time at an amusement park I played extreme miniature golf with my brothers, we went running as fast as we could to one hole then another, pushing the golf ball as if it were a hockey puck to all the holes. I think the people there thought we were crazy, it was so much fun!

Good times, al-Hamdu lilLah for good times.

al-Hamdu lilLah

I'm seriously one of the most fortunate people alive, the thing that I love to do most is being handed to me over and over and over, being with children. I love it so much, subHan Allah if there are any words I can use to describe how much I love being with children then they are all relevant right now! And I never thought there would ever be such a high demand for me. al-Hamdu lilLah what a wonderful feeling.

Right now I am a substitute for 2 private schools, and in sha' Allah I am going to be tutoring two children who just came from Saudi Arabia how to read, and and and the children that I teach after Sunday School, well their parents are telling more parents about me, and now I'm going to have more children!!! yay!!! Allahu Akbar. The new private school that I now substitute for really want me to be a teacher, al-Hamdu lilLah that's so cool to be handed a job like that, but for now being a substitute is enough. -smiles-

There is something about children that puts my heart at ease. There's this quiet happiness that rests in my heart, it feels like my heart is smiling, that sweet feeling that can never be described. The closest thing I can come up with is a bit of Jannah placed in my heart (although if it really were, that would be a whole different kind of happiness all together) seriously!

al-Hamdu lilLah for happiness, and al-Hamdu lilLah for sadness too.

al-Hamdu lilLah for everything! al-Hamdu lilLah, al-Hamdu lilLah. All praises are surely due to Allah.

1/22/2006

Interesting!

"In 2003 the Saudi Manpower Council mandated that the number of foreign workers and their families should not exceed 20 percent of the total population by 2013, and that the number of persons from any single nationality should not exceed 10 percent of the total expatriate population. "

-My friend Muna gave me this to read during a conversation of how "the country is slowly being 'Saudiized', because they apparently want to get all non-Saudis phased out of the country"... sad.

It's sad because, "this is a land which should be open to all Muslims who will contribute positively to its development"... subHan Allah.

My friend was explaining that "when you actually GO there - it's very different - more workers are needed, because there's too much work to do and not enough willing Saudis in every field - medicine, engineering, teaching, etc - "

Caught my eye from Islaam.com

Proverb

“Vision without action is a daydream. Action without vision is a nightmare.”

- Japanese proverb

Oppressed people

subHan Allah when I look at pictures like this... it's heart aching, it's not, "oh that would be sad if those were my brothers." When I look at them in those pictures, they are my brothers, they are a part of me. This world is sick, it really is.

1/20/2006

Hmm...

it's funny how after listening to a moving Islamic lecture how much I want to be 10X better than I am, it's funny odd because I want that hyped up feeling to be there 24/7 but it's not, it fluctuates... but one thing is for sure, there is indeed a desire for self-betterment.

At a banquet I went to today, I was thinking about ways of re-newing my Iman, making it stronger... and I thought about this internet world, I really need to cut down, it's insane how much I'm on this thing a day... I don't know how in the world that could be good for me.

in sha' Allah, i'm going to do my very best to stay off of this thing... and I hope my determination lasts, because I find myself saying that a lot to myself and it never happens. Khayr in sha' Allah, if I can fast during Ramadan then surely I can control how much time I spend online.

From now on, I give myself 30 min max. a day to go on, do what I have to, and get off. I need to control this now before it turns into a big problem.

1/17/2006

Yeeeeee!!!

Okay... So my brothers are crazy! lqtm.

My brothers have this life size, life like, looking, doll head of a man. I hear them giggling and then they come walking in my room to tell me what they had done. Three of my brothers walk in and they are looking at the camera as they are still laughing. I take a look at the picture in the camera and this doll head is on a pillow on the bed of my parents. They made a body shape with the blanket to go along with the head. It seriously looks like a real man is laying in the bed. My parents usually go to sleep at 9:30 PM... BUT! ... I have to mess up their prank, it's just wrong to scare people, it just is. But, I have to admit, I did get a good laugh out of it.

Random Thoughts

Today, I entered into that dance class again. After literally 5 minutes, it hit me, I better leave before I pile up sins under my name. So, I just went up to the teacher and explained to her that I am going to leave the classroom, (I pretty much didn't want to just walk out, that would be too rude) so I just explained that this isn't the class for me and it would be better if I take a course that didn't include movement in front of men, al-Hamdu lilLah she understood, I left that class thinking optimistically that Allah will replace this with something better. in sha' Allah, whoever is reading this, make du`a' for me.

I really need to figure out my schedule soon, I have planned activities already for the sisters at the University and I need to make them solid. One I'm really excited about is having a professional cook come and teach us how to make some yummy treats... I'm itching to finalize all the planning. This quarter is pretty much going to be about maintaining the home, I think it will be lots of fun. May Allah accept my efforts, that's what is important when it all comes down to it.

al-Hamdu lilLah I found out my friend Iman's mother is a graduate from al Azhar, and she's going to be teaching us `arabi, subHan Allah, I've always wanted lessons so badly, and to think I'm going to get the opportunity to learn, al-Hamdu lilLah, my heart is happy. On top of that we have Imad Bayoun not only coming to every MSA meeting to give a lecture, but he will be holding Halaqah's as well, what a blessing! al-Hamdu lilLah again, my heart's even more happy.

and... that's not all... one of the brothers is holding a meeting time to memorize Qur'an, what more can I ask for? My heart is sooo happy! al-Hamdu lilLah for happiness.

Oh al-Hamdu lilLah for the happiness at school... but oh wait, there's more.. happiness at home:

I came home really tired today, drained! absolutely drained, and Amir greets me and wants to bake a cake. Honestly, I did not feel like doing it, I really didn't... but I can't refuse him, especially since he had been waiting for me... and my friends know one thing I hate, is making people wait, whether it is a child, elder, my age, or if I am invited somewhere, or asked to do something, I hate, hate, hate making people wait. subHan Allah, and in one case in my life someone is waiting, and ya Rabbi really I wish this person didn't have to, but there is only so much I can control.

So my brother is waiting with his cake, and I figured, if I have to do it I might as well make the best out of it. soooo, to amuse myself I told Amir, you crack the eggs, and he was sooo afraid he would tap the egg, and I'm telling him "harder" and he taps it just bit harder. Then I show him with my hands how hard I want him to do it, thinking if I over exaggerate it will make him hit hard enough to break... he he, he listened to me, the egg went all over his hands. lqtm. Anyways, so I pretty much made him put the whole cake together by himself and just guiding him with my words and it made the experience pretty fun, so al-Hamdu lilLah for that.

Yesterday I had quite a bit of homework, and for some reason I just really really really did not feel interested in even looking at it, but I did not want to "feel" this way, and I know very well that if I set my mind straight I can control the way I feel. So, I decided to open the Qur'an and go over one surah that I had memorized before and re-read its meaning, and make sure I have it stuck in my mind solid. Turned out I had forgotten a verse or two, so I sat until I had that surah in my mind back to how it was, and all of a sudden success, I felt like doing school work. Allah's help is indeed near, and not only did I do the school work but I put in a couple of hours of just studying the material and making extra notes, and it felt so good while I was doing it, and when I had completed it. al-Hamdu lilLah. It makes sense why people would do qiyam al layl when they want the following day to be successful. Read some Qur'an and then do homework, I'm going to make that part of my routine from now on, it worked really well for me.

so where's the pinch? Gotta have a pinch you know.

I took a look at the reading that I have to do for my Religions and Violence class ... I was bummed, in the course description it said that we were going to be discussing the Palestinian Israeli conflict and I really wanted to learn more about that, but looking over her syllabus it's not even a part of the class at all. I'm disappointed, but oh well, I learn for myself anyways, so I'll find time to learn whatever I want to, in sha' Allah. I'm still bummed though, khayr in sha' Allah.

lqtm, 2 classes ended up being not what I had expected: the dance class, and the Religion and Violence class. al-Hamdu lilLah. Khayr in sha' Allah.... al-Hamdu lilLah for everything, there must be a reason behind all this.

Venting Zone???

Okay, I got this gmail just a few minutes ago:

" ???? who are you and why are you emailing me? keep your preposterous and misinformed garbage to yourself. it's horrible how you people try to brainwash young people.don't even THINK about replying to me. take me off your list immediately! "

For a second, I thought this was the person I gmailed, and I felt my heart sink in while thinking ~what, what, preposterous, and misinformed garbage???~ I felt my face get warm, and my body freeze, although I don't mind criticism, I was stunned by the harsh words... but then when I read "you people" I thought to myself ~hmm, did I gmail the wrong person?~ I re-checked the address I was supposed to give the gmail to, and I typed it in wrong by one letter. al-Hamdu lilLah, okay now I don't feel so bad. Then again my blood rushed, ~oh no, now this gmail is going to get to the right person *late*... akh! pinch... ~ but why get so upset? I mean, perhaps the one with the hateful gmail will read my sorry letter, and re-read the information I was supposed to send out, and be enlightened... ya Rab, I don't know, but I do know things happen for a reason.

Now I'm thinking, why did I rush here right after this happened to report what had happened? Is this my venting zone now? lqtm. Khayr in sha' Allah.

subHan Allah, I don't understand why things happen, but in sha' Allah I won't question it, and I will be patient. These tests are not so bad, الحمد لله

cool!

I probably spelled this wrong somehow.. but eh, I'm learning (^)
yay! الحمد لله

Nice day

al-Hamdu lilLah today I met up with Reem from online. It's so cool to meet someone from the internet.

I really enjoyed watching her daughters Mariam and Khadija interact with each other, Barak Allahu Fihum they are so cute! When I first met them their mom had to leave for a bit to go pray so I was alone with them. I felt I better break the ice soon because I'm just some strange person sitting with them, and they might be feeling uneasy. So, I took out my cross stitch cloth, my needle and thread and asked them if they would like to sew with me... and they did, and they were smiling and I felt good.

Reem returned and we went out to eat. The two girls were preoccupied with their coloring so the rest of the time I just spent talking to Reem. subHan Allah there are people in this world that I just love instantly for the sake of Allah, it's as if you can just feel the nur coming from them. May Allah shower Reem and her two daughters with khayr.

Then it was getting dark and although I would have loved to stay with Reem I didn't want my parents to get upset at me, so I decided to go home. Before I left, Reem stopped me and said she had a `id present for me. Although I love presents I felt really bad for not having something to give her... those who know me best know how I feel about presents, I just feel like I need to return the favor I hate to receive and not to give back in return, I hate that feeling of not being able to give something back.

Anyways, it was a really beautiful silver necklace. What I love more than the object itself, is the thought behind it, that's what made me love the present. subHan Allah some people are sooo thoughtful! Masha' Allah. May Allah give her mountains of jewelry in Jannah.

All in all today was another nice day... al-Hamdu lilLah for nice days.

But every day has to have that pinch of annoyance, I mean, the day is not complete without it.

Pinch of the day:

Since I have to take classes for units, my counselor recommended that I take Dance. I read the description of the class and it seemed to me that it was a class based on the history of dance, and it said that we will have to write papers. Well, to my surprise I enter the classroom and I don't find chairs like I had expected, instead it was a large room with a wooden floor and mirrors all around... I'm thinking "yeeee, are we going to be dancing?" ... Personally, I'm not someone who is too fond of dancing, I don't mind playing sports, I don't mind being silly with children... but dancing... eh... "and dancing in front of strange men... no no no no no no... I refuse... la`!"

WELL, the teacher has this activity where we are supposed to walk around the room and shake hands with everyone we bump into. I went up to her and I said, "I don't shake hands with men, and this activity makes me really uncomfortable." So she had the whole class go up and greet each other without touching. Then later she tells the class, "everyone take your socks off" [and because I'm not too sure whether Islamically it is "okay" to show my feet, I decided to keep my socks on, I figure when in doubt might as well be safe than sorry] I was the only one in the room with my socks on. Jihad al nafs? you betcha.

Then she had us do stretches, and some I couldn't do because I was wearing a jean skirt... and to top that off she had us get into groups of four to create our own type of rhythmic walk, and of all the groups I got the most creative ones and they created this elaborate 8 piece step thing, which I did once just fine, but she told us to keep repeating it, and akh.. I lost my co-ordination. I felt like doing the Arab thing and just go down on one knee and just clap at their show, you know, how they put the good dancer in the middle and everyone just circles around clapping... yea, that's what I felt like doing, mhmmm, either that, or leaving the room...

lqtm, I don't know if I'll drop the class... I really don't know. Akh! pinch, pinch.

... BUT ... other than that, it was a nice day, al-Hamdu lilLah.

subHan Allah

Today, I didn't have school but I went because of an MSU project I was working on... and this whole week, there has just been a lot going on... but something happened today, something nice. Today I felt every stress fade away.

It was Maghrib, so before I headed off home I stopped in the Masjid to pray. I was really glad to hear the adhan, that meant I didn't have to pray alone, al-Hamdu lilLah.

Anticipatory question/reflection: Have you ever prayed a prayer that you will never forget? subHan Allah some of my prayers have had a long lasting impact on me. One in particular was my very first attendance of a taraweeh prayer 4 years ago, it was after that prayer that I decided to keep the head scarf that I was wearing on. So, some prayers do something to me, they have an impact on the state of mind I will leave that prayer in.

Today, I felt so much at peace it was as though my body didn't exist. The imam that was leading the prayer had a voice that was sooo soothing, that I felt with every "Allahu akbar" my nerves relaxed and let go. I felt like I wanted to cry just from how much at peace I was, but I didn't, I just held it in and let myself enjoy the peacefulness in my salah. It was a calm I had never experienced before, absolutely relaxed, at peace, almost a perfect peace. al-Hamdu lilLah.

It's hard to forget people, places, events that evoke a strong emotion. That prayer today gave me a feeling I will never forget, it was so nice, absolutely a gift from Allah, al-Hamdu lilLah... always, al-Hamdu lilLah.

Happy Happy `Id !!!

al-Hamdu lilLah it is `id...

subHan Allah there is so much to be happy about and grateful for: Islam, family, friends, great company, children, the color green, juicy juice...

Allah knows what I need to hear... al-Hamdu lilLah

2.
Fa'idhā balaghna 'ajalahunna fa'amsikūhunna bima`rūfin 'aw fāriqūhunna bima`rūfin wa 'ash/hidū Dhaway `adlin minkum wa 'aqīmū ash-Shahādata lillāhi Dhālikum yū`ažu bihi man Kāna yu'uminu billāhi wa al-Yawmi al-'Ākhiri wa man yattaqi Allāha yaj`al lahu makhrajāan.
2.
Then when they are about to fulfil their term appointed, either take them back in a good manner or part with them in a good manner. And take for witness two just persons from among you (Muslims). And establish the witness for Allah. That will be an admonition given to him who believes in Allah and the Last Day. And whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty).

Perhaps the patient ones go straight to Jannah without having to wait, because they waited so much in this dunya... subHan Allah, I have hope that this is the case, because waiting is not the easiest thing to do...

May Allah allow me to live longer.

Become Immune to Insult

I read this and I liked it a lot...
_______________________________________

One thing that's certain in life is that a lot of people are going to try to insult you. This is true no matter what your position is. Bill Gates [is] regularly ridiculed in the media, just as your average homeless person is abused by passers-by.

Almost every day of your life, someone will say something to you or behave in a way that's clearly designed to offend. How should you react?

The smart answer is - not at all.

In 95% of cases when someone directs a slight at you, it's not even worth your time to respond. In fact, it can be counter-productive.

It's easy to let yourself be consumed by emotional responses to offense. One petty slur can fill your entire day with bad feelings. Sometimes, years can be spent keeping a tight ball of pain inside that was begun from one simple insult.

Worse, by allowing yourself to be affected, you're giving the perpetrator exactly what they want.

Why do people hurl needless insults at one another? Mostly it's to do with power.

By making you feel bad, causing you to react, and making you behave differently to how you otherwise would have - an insult is an easy way for somebody to gain control over you. In almost every case, the best way to respond to such a power-grab is to simply ignore it. Let the offender see clearly that their strategy has failed.

Their insult has just bounced off you. It is of so little consequence, that it's not even worth your time to react to it at all. The thoughts of a bug mean more to you than the petty offense that's just been pathetically hurled at you.

Look at those who succeed in getting their way in life, and you'll notice that ignoring insults is exactly how such people react. Every rich, famous and powerful person on the planet has derogatory comments made about them daily. The smart ones simply ignore them and get on with what they were trying to achieve.

It's often life's losers that allow petty offenses to consume them. They devote so much time and energy dealing emotionally with insults that they do things that are against their best interests.
When others throw their slings and arrows at you, make a conscious effort to let them bounce harmlessly off your thick skin. Your life will be much better for it.

Weirdness...

Today I had a friend over, and we were working on a MSU scrapbook, kind of like a nice year book that we will put together and make copies and distribute to the members. It's going to include pictures, quotes, and whatever good stuff we can think of. I think it would be a nice item to take once leaving the MSU to reflect upon good times, and good company. in sha' Allah.

Well, that's not the weird part!... so my friend was here, and the strangest thing happened. I was trying to explain something to her, and all of a sudden I used the analogy the voice in one of my dreams gave me... once I had a dream I was up in the sky, looking at stars, (really beautiful ones too!)... and well, a voice in the distance explained to me something about a garden, and stars, and made an analogy between the two. Well, it turns out, I used the same analogy that I was taught in my dream to teach my friend.

What the voice in the dream said about a garden, was that just as a person who gardens learns all the details of the garden, it is the same as the one who looks at the stars, and learns all the details of the stars.

So, when I was trying to explain to my friend the concept of firasah... I used this analogy, I said, "well just as a gardner can learn all the details of their garden, a person can learn the details of another human through firasah."

Weirdness.
