Finally!

al-Hamdu lilLah, I have been itching to watch March of the Penguins and I saw it today with a few friends. It was Aaaaaaaamazing! subHan Allah, to watch what it took for those penguins to survive was breath taking. They behaved in ways that was definitely beyond human... their navigation sense, their strategic ways of keeping warm, THEIR PATIENCE... subHan Allah. This was an awe-inspiring movie. Watching the way that the penguins interacted with each other, and behaved in their atmosphere definitely was a good reminder of the existence of Allah, subHanahu wa ta`ala...

I'm glad I didn't watch this in a movie theater, my friends were giving the penguins voices the whole time! .. and making the most funniest of remarks. At one point one of the penguins opened its mouth and we saw the tongue move around, and then one friend says, "oh look it's zaghrating!"lulululiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii....at another part of the movie, the narrator said something along the lines of, "The father is getting close to the child and is allowing it to hear and remember its voice." ... then a friend said, in a harsh deep violent way, "ROCK A BY BABY!!!"..... at that point my body was shaking, doing one of those, i'm laughing but you can't hear me kind of laugh...

oh good times! al-Hamdu lilLah.

Got Firasah?

Firasah is a sense of visual acumen, perception and insight. Allah says, "Surely! In this are the signs for the mutawassimeen." [15:75]...

The Prophet, sallallahu `alayhe wa sallam, is reported to have said, "Beware of the firasah of the believer, for he sees with the light of Allah," The firasah of the believer is always truthful.

The firasah is a light which Allah, subhanahu wa ta`ala, deposits in the heart of His servant. By this light, His servant distinguishes between truth and falsehood and between right and wrong.

The reality of firasah is a sharp thought that enters the heart and dominates its opinion. It overwhelms the heart just as the lion does to its pray, fareesah. Note the similarity between firasah and fareesah in Arabic. However, in their linguistic forms, fareesah is an object whereas firasah is similar in form to wilayah (authority and power), imarah (authority and command) and siyasah (administration and leadership).

The strength of firasah is dependent on the strength of faith. A person with stronger faith has sharper firasah. Amr bin Nujaid said that Shah al-Kermani had sharp firasah and was never wrong. He also used to say that whoever lowers his gaze away from prohibitions, restrains himself from vain desires, constructs his interior according to muraqabah (knowledge that Allah is watching over us), his exterior according to the Sunnah, and accustoms himself to eat only halal, his firasah will never be wrong...

Those words help me so much. Before speaking in front of people to just think for a second 'Allahu Akbar' it calms my fears, Allah is Greater than those I am going to talk to. Once I think "Allahu Akbar" everything else becomes sooooo little sooo tiny...

Because... ALLAHU AKBAR , and Allahu Akbar mini wa minkum, Allah is Greater than me, and you.

Allahu Akbar, and Allah is the One who controls the Universe, Allah has already written what is destined to happen to me, Allah is the All-Knowing and has planned my life for me. When I was driving to school there was a man with one of those electronic wheelchair's... on the back of the wheel chair this man had a license plate on it, it said "BADA BING" hehe, it made me smile, it was just so cool.

Now for the big siiigh of relief!!! ya Rabbi Winter Break is here, I can now put more focus on things that I have been postponing, things I have pushed to the side for when more spare time comes my way... like for example: I went up to my younger brother and I whispered, "catch me" subHan Allah, more time with the people I love.

It's strange really, bittersweet, I thoroughly enjoy school, I love my teachers, I enjoy studying, I like reading the material, hey it's pretty darn curiosity-feeding-interesting! I'm so excited about this Winter Break I have a few books I have been itching to read, in sha' Allah. More focus on the Qur'an, in sha' Allah, more focus on activities I have started but didn't finish. Aaa, I'm so happy. al-Hamdu lilLah for this happiness. But it's all strange because, I know this month I'm going to miss school, I'm so happy that it's over, but I know I'll miss it. I'm perplexed.

Oh well, al-Hamdu lilLah Winter Break is here, al-Hamdu lilLah.

Fun Times

Alright, so I'm making my dad some tea, and I decided to sit down with him to watch a little bit of news.

Anyways, so he turns to me and says: "How can you get 30 cents using only two American coins, and one of them is not a nickel?"

I thought, and thought... and, I couldn't think of any way that this could be possible.

So, thinking I was being clever I said, "Well Dad, I would use two quarters, that would equal 50 cents and you can get 30 cents out of that!" (yea, now I think I'm all that and a bag of candy)

anyways... WRONG!!! (well, I was right, but I answered the question the wrong way)

So then my brother comes down stairs, and asks me the question again, "alright, how can you get 30 cents, both coins have to be EQUAL to 30 cents, with one not being a nickel?"

I'm thinking, 'subHan Allah this can not be possible, there has to be a trick to this, could it be with the word coins?... hmm, is there another meaning? are they saying this sentence in a funny way?... argh! I can't get it'

"I don't know, just tell me."

So then my dad puts his hand into his pocket pulls out a quarter and a nickel, and asks me..."do you notice anything?"...

uh.. "yea, that you have a quarter and a nickel in your hand".. hehe.

he continues, "look at this" (and he's holding the quarter now)

hmmmmmm.... where is he going with this?

So .. the answer.. the answer...

One coin is a nickel, and one coin is a quarter, turns out if I said, "A quarter and a nickel" the answer would be correct, because all that he asked was that one coin not be a nickel... and that coin that is not a nickel my friends... is the quarter.

Remember the question "one of them is not a nickel" ... the quarter is not a nickel. They didn't say you couldn't use the nickel.

Tonight I have a headache, and we have no Advil, ... al-Hamdu lilLah I hope it serves as an expiation of sins for me. One more class to take care of, and all this hyper-pressure stress is over.

"What was said by the faqih al-Hanbali ibn al-Jawzi in his book Ahkam al-Nisa' (p. 331): In the second century AH there was a righteous man called Shu`ayb ibn Harb, who used to fast and spend his nights in prayer. He wanted to marry a woman, and told her humbly, "I am a bad-tempered man." She replied, tactfully and cleverly, "The one who makes you lose your temper is worse than you." He realized that there stood before him a woman who was intelligent, wise and mature. He immediately said to her, "You will be my wife."

This woman had a clear understanding of how to be a good wife, which confirmed to the man who had come to seek her hand that she was a woman who would understand the psychology and nature of her husband and would know what would please him and what would make him angry; she would be able to win his heart and earn his admiration and respect, and would close the door to every possible source of conflict that could disrupt their married life. The woman who does not understand these realities does not deserve to be a successful wife; through her ignorance and shortcomings she may provoke her husband to lose his temper, in which case, she would be worse than him, for being the direct cause of his anger.

Patriot Act

Oftentimes when I lose my emotional balance, it's due to my mind over-dramatizing my situation. Patience is really easy, but because of how my mind may over dramatize my situation patience may become difficult. When something bad happens my emotions get excited and then I have to immediately control my mind to take it easy.

For example, yesterday I went to turn in my paper to the teacher and I noticed red marks on the page, and when I looked closer it didn't look like red pen marks, it looked like blood. I had no idea where the blood came from. Looking at my tainted paper, I knew that my emotions would start getting excited, that I may over-dramatize my situation, so I just calmed down and thought.

Trying to figure out how blood got on my paper a friend pointed out that I had a little bit of blood on my face. I wiped my cheek where she told me she saw some blood, and then I looked at my fingers to see if I got whatever was on my cheek off. Then I noticed where all this blood was coming from, my thumb, I had a paper cut! A really deep one too... subHan Allah, how did I not feel that? so strange.

Anyways, I had to figure out what to do with all the red marks on the page, I needed to turn it in, and what would the teacher think if he saw blood on my paper?

So, what did I do? Hehe, I just drew flowers over it. Pretty red flowers. lqtm, life is really interesting, it's amazing how things are decreed.

So, I happen to have a teacher that gives us loads to read... and for the final... al-Hamdu lilLah..

no study guide ...

I took her midterm, al-Hamdu lilLah I did well on it, but boy was she specific, I had to really sit there and try to pull out the answer. I mean seriously, it was like one sentence within a multitude of chapters.

Hehe, I love this teacher, she makes studying fun! Bring it on teacher! bring it on! ... I can handle it! by Allah I can handle it! hehe

al-Hamdu lilLah she happens to be the teacher for 2 of my classes... al-Hamdu lilLah. So here I am now, with pages to study, and no study guide, ... fun... sounds like hyper pressure, fun. If I have to deal with it, I might as well have a good attitude about it.

Someone told me something the other day that really got me think'n, "the more effort you put in, the more barakah you will recieve." So, that's that. I'm gonna have a good attitude about this, and I'm gonna put in as much effort as I can. Khayr in sha' Allah, and besides, I have a set of some awesome du`a' to read.
