la illaha illa Allah, Muhammad rasuli Allah

1 By the morning hours
2 And by the night when it is stillest,
3 Thy Lord hath not forsaken thee nor doth He hate thee,
4 And verily the latter portion will be better for thee than the former,
5 And verily thy Lord will give unto thee so that thou wilt be content.
6 Did He not find thee an orphan and protect (thee)?
7 Did He not find thee wandering and direct (thee)?
8 Did He not find thee destitute and enrich (thee)?
9 Therefor the orphan oppress not,
10 Therefor the beggar drive not away,
11 Therefor of the bounty of thy Lord be thy discourse.



I love the surah this child recites, it has such deep meaning and it is such a good reminder, al-hamdu lillah.



I've been thinking a lot about prophet Muhammad (salla Allahu `alayhi wa sallam) lately. I never knew the depth of struggle he had endured, let me share:

The wife of Abu Lahab the prophet's (sa`aws) uncle did horrible things in order to hurt the prophet. For instance, "In order to cause him bodily injury, she used to tie bundles of thorns with ropes of twisted palm-leaf fiber and scatter them in the paths which the Prophet (salla Allahu `alayhi wa sallam) was expected to take." That explains the verses from the Surah al-Masad that talks about the punishment Abu Lahab's wife would receive.


1 Perish the hands of the Father of Flame! Perish he!
2 No profit to him from all his wealth, and all his gains!
3 Burnt soon will he be in a Fire of Blazing Flame!
4 His wife shall carry the (crackling) wood - As fuel!-
5 A twisted rope of palm-leaf fibre round her (own) neck!

Once she went to the prophet (s) with a handful of pebbles in her hand in order to break the prophet's (s) mouth. [but when she went to the prophet (s) Allah made it so that she could not see him].

The guts of a camel were put on him while he prayed, his neck was stepped on while in sujud, grounded decomposed bones would be blown at him, people would spit at him in the face, once a stone was thrown at him in the head to the point that it cracked and bled, and he would be slandered and backbitten repeatedly.

By the way, the one who threw the stone at his head was Abu Jahl.

When Abu Bakr (radi Allahu `anhu) would come to the prophet's (s) aid, he often times said, "Do you want to kill a man just because he says, 'My Lord is Allah'?" subhan Allah, al-hamdu lillah for those who supported him in a time of incredible hardships.

subhan Allah, imagine all this hardship he had to face, and still he continued with his efforts... Oh Allah, how amazing it is to be steadfast.

Here is something the prophet (s) was inspired to say that really moved my heart, "No soul will perish until it exhausts its due course, so fear Allah and gently request Him. Never get impatient to the point of disobedience of Allah. What Allah has can never be acquired but through obedience to Him." ... subhan Allah.

It's so amazing to read about the prophet's life (salla Allahu `alayhi wa sallam), The Sealed Nectar by Safiur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri has definitely moved my heart to feel in a way it has never before, a deep love for the prophet (salla Allahu `alayhi wa sallam) that is very sincere and appreciative. al-hamdu lillah.

Talks with People

subhan Allah, I had a talk with a lady that by Allah I have never met anyone more "generous" than her, never. Anyways, a little while back she wanted my number in order to suggest to some other friends of hers that she knows someone good for marriage. I told her not to call anyone because I am involved in a relationship and it's going well.

Last week she got in an accident, and al-hamdu lillah she's okay but still swollen in the face and her legs ache. I told her I don't mind driving her daughters back home after school, so I've been doing that for the past few days. She always invites me in, but I decline because I have to be home at a certain time. Today was different, I was really thirsty so I told her I'll come in for a cup of water but I have to be on my way.

Remember how I told you she was generous... lqtm. I only wanted water... -smiles- I ended up eating a lime cake, and having a full meal. -smiles- Barak Allahu fiha, so then I was getting up to leave and she asked me, "what did your mom do to make you the way you are?" I didn't know what she meant. Then she said, "I want my daughters to be like you." Right then and there I laughed and told her, "Let's hope to God that they are better than me." Seriously... if only she knew what I know about myself, akhtain. But then she said, "Please tell me what she does."

She was staring at me waiting for an answer so I thought I would answer. I just explained how my mom is strict with me, but how that's not necessarily the best approach to have.

Then she went on to ask me about how things were going with the guy I'm involved with, and she questioned, "How was the khutbah." I explained how it hasn't reached that point yet, then I told her to make du`a' for me. She questioned why there's not that much progress and wondered if I prayed Istikhara. I told her I pray it many times over. -smiles- al-hamdu lillah. Then she asked if I talked at all.. and what was going on. I just explained to her that, we do talk but we're limited to what we say, and how much we talk. Then she gave me a long lecture about how it is wrong to keep everything as strict as it is. She said, this din is easy, and people shouldn't make this din a burden on them. She went on to explain that there are obvious limits where a person shouldn't transgress, but to also understand that it's also wrong to go to far the other way and be too strict on oneself because you may lose your love for this din. ... subHan Allah, she got me thinking...

al-hamdu lillah for everything.

My class had a field trip today we went to the Science Discovery Center, that was cool. -smiles-

I went inside of a mock earthqauke.. a mock hurricane... and used my hand to pump a heart, so cool.
