Beautiful colors.. subhan Allah.

Behold! in the creation of the heavens and the earth; in the alternation of the night and the day; in the sailing of the ships through the ocean for the profit of mankind; in the rain which Allah Sends down from the skies, and the life which He gives therewith to an earth that is dead; in the beasts of all kinds that He scatters through the earth; in the change of the winds, and the clouds which they Trail like their slaves between the sky and the earth;- (Here) indeed are Signs for a people that are wise.

( سورة البقرة , Al-Baqara, Chapter #2, Verse #164)

writing...

i totally forgot to share something... -smiles-

one girl in my class loves to write letters to everyone in her family... lqtm, she left one on her desk, and it was way too funny. i made a copy of it; she knows. -smiles-

subhan Allah, wa al-hamdu lillah, la illaha illa Allah, wa Allahu akbar

Subhan Allah:

Do they not observe the birds above them, spreading their wings and folding them in? None can uphold them except ((Allah)) Most Gracious: Truly ((Allah)) Most Gracious: Truly it is He that watches over all things.
( سورة الملك , Al-Mulk, Chapter #67, Verse #19)

This verse made my heart sink in, it's true, how else do they give flight? They need Allah's leave. Imagine, they can have wings and yet never fly, had Allah willed that they not use them. subHan Allah.

wa al-hamdu lillah:

Narrated Sa'd: 'Umar bin Al-Khattab asked permission of Allah's Apostle to see him while some Quraishi women were sitting with him and they were asking him to give them more financial support while raising their voices over the voice of the Prophet. When 'Umar asked permission to enter, all of them hurried to screen themselves the Prophet admitted 'Umar and he entered, while the Prophet was smiling. 'Umar said, "May Allah always keep you smiling, O Allah's Apostle! Let my father and mother be sacrificed for you !" The Prophet said, "I am astonished at these women who were with me. As soon as they heard your voice, they hastened to screen themselves." 'Umar said, "You have more right, that they should be afraid of you, O Allah's Apostle!" And then he ('Umar) turned towards them and said, "O enemies of your souls! You are afraid of me and not of Allah's Apostle?" The women replied, "Yes, for you are sterner and harsher than Allah's Apostle." Allah's Apostle said, "O Ibn Al-Khattab! By Him in Whose Hands my life is, whenever Satan sees you taking a way, he follows a way other than yours!" (Book #73, Hadith #108)

subHan Allah, imagine seeing the prophet's smile!!! -smiles- salla Allahu `alayhi wa sallam. Ya Allah, just to see that smile. Subhan Allah, and 'Umar, subhan Allah Shaytan would run away from him! It makes me wonder... do the things I do make Shaytan run towards me? or run away? .. ya Rab.

al-hamdu lillah... for learning, for striving, ... and indeed if I need to smile to my parents to chase away Shaytan and earn Allah's pleasure, then I'll do it. Allahu Musta`an. (and thank you for helping me with that, I need to better myself... dunya is hard sometimes).

la illaha illa Allah:

The first thing we read when we open the Qur'an are these words:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
( سورة الفاتحة , Al-Fatiha, Chapter #1, Verse #1)

yaaaaaaaa Allah... what more can anyone ask for?

wa Allahu Akbar:

Allah is in control ... and everything that happens, happens by His Wisdom. Trusting in Allah is beautiful, there is no greater protector, greater friend, greater companion... Allahu akbar! That's another reason to smile.

-smiles-

and for His forgiveness... and for Ar-Rahman to have Mercy and love us.. here's this beautiful surah that may just (by Allah's mercy) protect us from the wrath of Allah in the grave.. ya Allah.... I need to memorize this Surah... i need it.

Treatment for Sciatica:

Practical point:
While is seems counter-intuitive, activity and exercise typically provides more sciatica pain relief than rest.

"The condition usually heals itself if you give it enough time and rest. Tell your doctor how your pain started, where it travels and exactly what it feels like. A physical exam may help pinpoint the irritated nerve root. Your doctor may ask you to squat and rise, walk on your heels and toes or perform a straight leg raising test or other tests."

Physical therapy and exercise
When the sciatica pain is at its worst, patients may need to rest for a day or two, but resting for longer periods of time is usually not advisable. In fact, inactivity will usually make the sciatic pain worse. This is because regular movement and exercise is necessary to nourish the various structures in the low back and encourage the strength needed to support the low back.

"Many sciatica exercises focus on strengthening the abdominal and back muscles in order to give more support for the back. Stretching exercises for sciatica target muscles that cause pain when they are tight and inflexible. When patients engage in a regular program of gentle strengthening and stretching exercises, they can recover more quickly from a flare up of sciatica and can help to prevent future episodes of pain.

Low impact aerobic exercise, such as walking or swimming (or pool therapy) is also usually a component of recovery, as aerobic activity encourages the exchange of fluids and nutrients to help create a better healing environment. Aerobic conditioning also has the added benefit of releasing endorphins, the body’s natural pain killers, which is a natural way to alleviate sciatic pain."

Subhan Allah, I forgot to finish this blog yesterday, khayr... but, after I heard about the sciatica condition I read a lot about it.. now i'm looking for ways of treating it. That's the first one I found... but I'm on it, I really care for your health in sha' Allah.

subHan Allah, other than surgery the best thing to do is just to excercise. Khayr, in sha' Allah... we'll start with this.. -smiles-

lqtm.. I DARE YOU TO DO THIS! LQTM.

My aching back...

subHan Allah, my back has been hurting for a while. It's not my lower back, but the upper part towards the left. subHan Allah, it's just so tense. al-Hamdu lillah my dad gave me a massage, and it feels better but it's not gone. khayr.

I talked to my grandparents today and I gave them my condolences. Khayr in sha' Allah, I still feel bad I didn't do so earlier. Allahu Musta`an.

Also, I went and saw Angie's mom. al-hamdu lillah she's doing a lot better. I remember seeing her before she went for surgery, she was in such bad pain so i'm glad to see that she is better. I still feel bad for her, because she cannot eat much... just sips of water here and there.. may Allah make it easy on her. Amin.

I was invited to a couple of events, I asked my mom if I could go and my mom didn't allow me... it really bothers me to be invited to something and for me not to attend, I feel it's rude. al-hamdu lillah, that's life for ya, a struggle.. one big struggle. subHan Allah, but seriously, al-hamdu lillah... al-hamdu lillah, always al-hamdu lillah.

So let's see .. what else... what else.

I've been reading a lot from qisas.com, it's so nice.. sooo nice, al-hamdu lillah.

-smiles-

Oh randomness.. here's a verse i'm currently thinking about:

And round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness): If thou seest them, thou wouldst think them scattered Pearls.
( سورة الإنسان , Al-Insan, Chapter #76, Verse #19)

This verse just makes my heart wish to see this in actuality. subHan Allah.

al-hamdu lillah

studying, no worries, i'll keep you in my du`a'.

wa iyyakum, -smiles-

-smiles-

No worries.

... hmm, I should blog huh.. subHan Allah.. so today...

Today I got a phone call from a board member on the masjid complaining about the letter I wrote, how this isn't my place and my job is to be a teacher, to teach and go home. He's right, why do I have to go into things that's none of my business. I understand that in ways it is my business, but personally... sigh... you know what, I don't even want to think about this... khayr, I apologized and it's over. Well, maybe it's not over. I do feel like I may have tainted my relationship with some people, perhaps I'll buy them a gift or something. al-hamdu lillah.

You know what felt good today, I went to a Qur'an class from 6:30 to 8 pm, and we went over Surat Mariam. It made me feel good, it made me feel really humbled. Reading the Qur'an makes me feel like I'm actually doing something to help myself get some good deeds, I'm actually allowing my heart to wake up for a moment out of its dead sleep. subHan Allah, I wish that I could memorize things quickly and that it sticks forever. subHan Allah, when we were reading those verses I honestly tried to commit them to memory... subHan Allah, with time, patience, and practice .. and looots of du`a' maybe I can get on a roll and memorize the words of Allah. I want that.

Tomorrow I will go to a morning class and learn about the intricacies of Zakah with HM dad, it's such a nice calm class, I love it.

subHan Allah, there's so much to learn. al-hamdu lillah.

I wish I was a better Muslimah... pray for me, please.

Khayr, al-hamdu lillah.

wow... nice

jazakum Allahu khayran.

wa iyyakum for asking, and what's life without Murphy law?.. lqtm.

Yes, I understand that some days are just... "one of those days."

And if you found yourself getting closer to Allah after a simple story, then barak Allahu fik and may Allah make you one of His dearest friends. Amin.

subHan Allah, honestly, you have no idea how your mood has an impact over me, just the fact that you feel good now really gives me this happiness that's hard to describe, an inward sort of comfort. al-hamdu lillah.

I really care about how your days go. I care to know how you're doing, and what you're up to.

al-hamdu lillah. -smiles-, and thanks so much for that du`a' it's really nice. jazak Allahu khayran.

... -smiles-

wa iyyakum, and how are things with you?

al-Hamdu lillah

subHan Allah, a parent took her child to a learning center to see if he needed tutoring. She had heard that a private school isn't as good as a public school "academically" speaking. So she took her child to take a national exam to see how he was doing. Turns out, that not only did he do excellently and highly ranking in almost everything, but the one administering the test said that she hadn't had a child do so well in about a year and a half. His mom said he didn't score as high in one area, and when she told me what the area was, I was so shocked because we work on that everyday. She said, as far as the basics were concerned he mastered everything, but it was one test with the short and long vowels that he didn't do well on. That shocked me because I even have songs that we sing for those! My whole class memorized the songs, and we work on them, like I said, everyday. Khayr, al-hamdu lillah he did well though. She then thanked me for my work. al-hamdu lillah... and the thing is, her child, he's pretty average in my class, I have students that do much better than he does. I needed to hear good news, so al-hamdu lillah.

Last night a parent called me, she said, "I have a doubt about the homework you gave my son." I asked her, "What's your doubt?" She said, "Why does he have two book reports for homework?" I told her... "Your son wants a ticket for my reading raffel jar, everytime they turn in a book report I put their name on a raffel ticket so that they could win books and other prizes by the end of the month." Turned out that her child was giving her a hard time, he insisted that his mother take him to the library. -smiles- I'm so proud of those children, barak Allahu fihum.

Also, here's something my students love: if they want to go to the bathroom, or drink water they have to write me a note. When they do that, I sign their note, and they can go. Moreover, if they write me a note asking to sit by someone I'll move their desk to sit there, if they abuse the privledge, I move their desk back to where it was. If they write a note saying they want me to read a book, or take them outside, et cetera... most of the time I do it. Now let me tell you why I mentioned this... turns out that if it's a note given to me, I just can't throw it away.. so I've stored all their notes in a little box. In front of the class I told them, you guys are writing so much that I'm running out of paper. Literally, over 1000 pieces of paper have been used for their notes. I also have them write letters to the other grades, and they have penpals from 4th grade to 8th grade. They write so much, I had to take a stack of paper and cut it in half just so that I don't run out so fast. Anyways.. i got side tracked, so I keep all their papers, and I decided to show them the letters that they have written me from the beginning of the year, and they were shocked to see that I held in my hand possibly hundreds of letters from them... one student said, "teacher you're so fair." I didn't know what she meant by that until, I turned to see bright smiles everywhere.. then I reminded them about how much I care about them, and love them.

Oh, there's an activity that I started doing this month that has boosted up their reading and writing to levels that are... just sky rocketing. So, I have cards that have sentences on them. I give every student a card and then I say, Bismillah GO!!!! And they have to write the sentence while sounding out everything as they write. When they finish writing the sentence, they yell out, "DONE!" then I run to give them another sentence card. After the stack in my hand is done, I ask who has the most sentences written down, and the one who wins gets to be the one who passes out the sentence cards the next day. It's a lot of fun, al-hamdu lillah.

Also, I bought a register and fake money for my class. That's helped them a lot with the money chapter in their book, al-hamdu lillah.

Okay now I feel like I'm babbling. -smiles-

al-Hamdu lillah, things are going well with my class, and this week they have been excellent. Last week, lqtm, I felt like I was going to pop. al-Hamdu lillah, Allah does bring ease after hardship.

al-hamdu lillah.

Allahumma anta rabbi wa ana `abduk, thalamtu nafsi wa a`taraftu bithanbi, la yaghfiru al-thunuba illa ant. Rabbi ighfir li.

Cold...

from sahih al bukhari:

Narrated Hudhaifa: The Prophet said about Ad-Dajjal that he would have water and fire with him: (what would seem to be) fire, would be cold water and (what would seem to be) water, would be fire. (Book #88, Hadith #244)

Narrated Nafi': Once on a very cold and stormy night, Ibn 'Umar pronounced the Adhan for the prayer and then said, "Pray in your homes." He (Ibn 'Umar) added. "On very cold and rainy nights Allah's Apostle used to order the Mu'adhdhin to say, 'Pray in your homes.' " (Book #11, Hadith #635)

Narrated Anas bin Malik: The Prophet used to offer the prayer earlier if it was very cold; and if it was very hot he used to delay the prayer, i.e. the Jumua prayer. (Book #13, Hadith #29)

Narrated Abu Wail: Abu Muisa said to'Abdullah bin Mas'ud, "If one does not find water (for ablution) can he give up the prayer?" Abdullah replied, "If you give the permission to perform Tayammum they will perform Tayammum even if water was available if one of them found it cold." Abu Musa said, "What about the statement of 'Ammar to 'Umar?" 'Abdullah replied, "Umar was not satisfied by his statement." (Book #7, Hadith #341)

lqtm... this is interesting

it's no secret.. lqtm, but it helps motivate me positively so that's good:

subHan Allah, it's not the law of attraction it's the will of Allah... but watching this helped remind me that I need to think positively, I need to have a positive thoughts of Allah's will for me, and more optimistic. A believer is always optimistic and hopeful. A believer is a person who smiles, and spreads cheer and comfort in the hearts of others, and in their own heart. -smiles- khayr.

Allah is the one who gives people happiness and a life of comfort. May Allah give us success in this life and in the hereafter. Amin.

-smiles-

jazakum Allahu khayran for your update -smiles- al-hamdu lillah.

during my break today, i listened to a nashid i liked a lot, here it is:

-smiles- al-hamdu lillah for the things that make our hearts feel good.

by the way, no worries about your exam, like you said, al-hamdu lillah ... you pulled an all nighter, and Allah is a witness to that, wa barak Allahu fik. (what's a grade compared to your good reward with Allah?)

Anyways, take it easy, and if you're going to be busy for a while, then I understand and I pray that you find barakah in your time. Amin.

Freaks of Nature

I must admit some freaks of nature are really cool, not all, some. -smiles-
al-Hamdu liLlah
Plus, du`a' is on its way, your way. -smiles-
al-Hamdu liLlah
Oh, and today went really well for me.
al-Hamdu liLlah
... always, al-Hamdu liLlah.
wa al-salati wa al-salam `ala rasuli Allah.

al-Hamdu liLlah for 11 steps

I was going through a rough time, and I received this from a friend I know online. It came just in time.

11 steps:

step 1. take a deep breath
step 2. say alhamdulillah (what happened was not worse)
step 3. say alhamdulillah (you are pleased with what Allah (swt)
wanted to afflict you with, in your heart you are still satisfied, you
are not stricken with discontent)
step 4. say alhamdulillah (what happened was not a trial in your deen)
step 5. say alhamdulillah (every affliction is atonement for your sins)
step 6. realize there is only so much you can do, and that Allah knows
your intentions.
step 7. accept that today has passed and it's over
step 8. be patient because "...Only those who are patient shall
receive their reward in full, without reckoning." (39: 10)
step 9. know that ease comes after hardship, guaranteed.
step 10. know that i support you and am here for you, inshallah.
step 11. remember to say alhamdulillah

remember, if you knew of everything that was hidden from you, you
would choose from what was presented to you. khair inshallah, the
affairs of the believer are always good, inshallah.

al-Hamdu liLlah for this beautiful din, al-hamdu lillah for wonderful friends, al-hamdu lillah for Allah's mercy... al-hamdu lillahi rabil `alamin. wa al salati wa al salamu `ala rasuli Allah.

Good Reminders in Hadith

ya Allah... in truth, inside of me I want to be the best person. What I want to be is not what I am. I want to be the best believer, I want to be a friend of Allah's, I want to draw near to Him, I want that close relationship with Allah that Ibrahim (`alayhi salam) had... ya Allah.

It's not like I can't do what it takes. subHan Allah, I know I could memorize the Qur'an, I know I could increase the amount of books I read on Islam, I know I could lengthen my prayers, I know that I could be more kind to those around me, I know I could be the person I want to be... so if I know I "could" do it, why don't I???

why don't I ???

I don't know what stops me, am I listening to Shaytan? Am I just following my whims and desires? subHan Allah, by Allah... astaghfur-Allah... astaghfur-Allah... astaghfur-Allah... Allah is al-`afou, pardon me ya Allah, and the Muslimin.

Jihad of the soul.. subHan Allah, it's a jihad against laziness.
